“My dad's Peterbilt logger was a 1956 model year purchased new for $15,899. It was ordered along with 15 new Peterbilt log trucks purchased by Harris Pine Mills of Pendleton, OR where my grandpa was foreman of the truck shop. It was my grandpa who arranged this deal with management, and put up the cash, then my dad paid on a note with him. The log trailer, a 1955 Page model 714, which he had from a previous truck, cost another $4700 (I am reading this from his old tax forms). I got to ride in this truck as a boy every once in a while, though my mom thought it was always too dangerous... some of my best memories of growing up. I distinctly remember my dad shifting the 'Brownie' gears with both hands and steering with his knee! Dad would have been proud to see his old truck as a model. He loved collecting 1:18 die cast 'old cars'--I have most of his collection of those still." --Gary Henderson
