Blackstone Models: HOn3 Gauge DRGW 30' Refrigerator Car - 'Flying Grande' Herald

The cars were originally built by American Car & Foundry in 1908. Known as “short” reefers, these 30-foot, 20-ton cars traversed the Colorado narrow gauge through the late 1950s.

Blackstone's release is based on the prototypes after they were rebuilt by the D&RGW in 1926, which included new Murphy roofs, altered needle beams, and larger icebox hatches. Other model details include hardware color, reporting marks, order placards, and herald placement specific to each road number.

These ready-to-run models are available with freshly shopped American Refrigerator Transit (ART) Yellow sides, and Boxcar Red roof and end sills. They are also equipped with free-rolling 4'8" arch bar trucks and Kadee No. 714 couplers.
