In 1905-1905 the Denver & Rio Grande purchased 350 brand-new 30-foot stock cars from American Car & Foundry due to new ICC regulations that rendered their old fleet obsolete. These cars were rebuilt in 1926. As-delivered, they were painted Mineral Red withe black floors, trucks and underframes; after 1926 they were painted all black.
