ScaleTrains HO Scale: Rivet Counter - EMD SD40T-2 - DCC and Sound - Southern Pacific 'Roman Lettering / Lobotomized'

Due to their rugged operating environment, from the Pacific coast to the deserts of the Southwest, the Southern Pacific wasn’t shy about ordering specialized equipment. The famed “Cab Forward” steam locomotives were one example, designed with tunnel and snowshed operation in mind. In SP’s diesel era, these tunnels and snowsheds would still be a headache, thanks to locomotives overheating in their confines. Once they overheat, thermostatic controls would automatically make the unit reduce its output, or even shut down, possibly stalling the train.
