History:

Empowered by its acquisition of United States Railway Equipment (USRE,) Evans-USRE built boxcars became the company standard during the IPD boxcar boom of the 1970s. With modern upgrades such as box-corrugated, non-terminating ends, Stanray X-panel overhanging roof, and riveted car sides near the end posts, the Evans 5277 is a classic boxcar of riveted car sides near the end posts, the Evans 5277 is a classic boxcar of the IPD era.

A hallmark of the 1970s boxcar boom, ExactRail is the first-ever to tool the Evans 5277 plate C boxcar! Mississippian Railway - '1979 As-Delivered' Paint Scheme:
The National Railway Utilization Corp. (NRUC) owned multiple railroads during the IPD era. Most of the 4,000 plus boxcars were delivered in the attractive bright blue scheme with the NRUC logo applied to a placard that was often mounted upon the door. The 50 cars (304000-304049) that were delivered under the Mississippian Railway were part of a larger 1,000 car order that ended up being canceled due to the collapse of the IPD era. The MISS cars as well as other NRUC cars were sold & sent to other owners across the country. Many were repainted but some lasted many years in their original paint.
