Gambrel-roofed brick feed mills like Columbia Feeds were once common all across the continent, grinding grain grown locally, or shipped in by the boxcar load, into animal feed, then bagged and reloaded into customer's wagons or trucks. For additional storage, owners often had attached or freestanding buildings that conformed to the curvature of their siding or size and angle of their property.
