Do you collect model trains? Do you get excited about the finding the perfect piece for your layout, or are you constantly thinking of how you could make your track better? If so you might be a hobby train enthusiast. Because we love this hobby so much, we’ve put together a list of 10 things that might apply to you if you consider yourself to be an enthusiast. How many of these do you identify with?

1. You pass a hobby train store and your family and friends know better than to stop you from going in. I mean, there are model train accessories inside! So they go on and you catch up with them later.
2. You go into the room where your railway is for something not related to your tracks, and you suddenly realize you’ve been tinkering with your layout for 30 minutes.
3. You’ve learned to ignore people who ask if you’re going to the toy store. You reassure yourself they just don’t understand.
4. Others get onto trains as a form of transportation, you get onto a train to mentally add ideas to your layout.
5. You walk past a space (whether it be in an office, home, etc.) and think, “This would be a really great place to put train track.” Then you think about how they are underutilizing the space.
6. Time never flies as fast as it does when you’re trying to decide where to place that building… a little to the left...no, a little to the right... no, back to the left...has it been 20 minutes already?!
7. You see the uses for wooden drink stirrers as endless! But you don’t actually use them for what they are meant for. Oh and paint? You picture the colors on your layouts before you picture colors on anything else.
8. Plans cancel for the night? Oh darn. What will you do? Have to stay in and work on your track
9. Your bare feet fear the floor…. But not from stepping on your children’s legos, but your rail joiners.
10. You know more about all the rolling stock, trains, layout, history, etc. of your local train station than anyone working there.
