You may remember last January when the roof over the neighboring suite of the TrainLife/ExactRail Offices collapsed (Read about it HERE). Because of the safety concerns and as part of the process of repairing the building we were without power or gas for several weeks... In January! The good news is that even with that extreme cold most everything in our offices survived... With the exception of these Gondolas...
The Southern Pacific Ordered their Fleet of Greenville 65' Mill gondolas with a top chord tie-down. To recreate this detail on the model ExactRail used an etched metal part. Most everyone that's owned a model with a combination plastic and metal parts has seen what happens when there are fluctuations in temperature and environment, the metal and plastic expand and contract and different rates and parts pop-up/-off. This is what happened to the tie-down on this model during the time that we didn't have heat in our warehouse.
We have worked with ExactRail to be able to offer these gondolas at a DEEP discount so that they can clear room on their shelves for a large shipment of products that are on their way to the warehouse.
This is a great opportunity to own a Platinum Level ExactRail model at a great value!
